THE AHIMSA SILK CAMPAIGN

“Ahimsa Rēśama” draws its inspiration from the principles of the Ahimsa which means non-violence. This collection is a part of the “Make in India” Campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These silks are extracted and woven without killing the silkworm.

The Making

The Designing Process

THE BANJARA TRIBE CAMPAIGN

The ‘Banjara’ style, created by a nomadic tribe from Southern India, is characterized by its use of vibrant embroidery and rustic mirror work. We have drawn elements from their indigenous craftsmanship to raise awareness about the tribe’s culture and its unique art forms.

THE WARLI TRIBE CAMPAIGN

In support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, we have assembled the below collection, taking inspiration from the primal stick-figure art of the Warli tribes in Maharashtra. We showcased the garments while promoting ‘Global Disability Inclusion’, wherein renowned model Kiara M walked the ramp with her prosthetic leg, proving that disabilities are mere hurdles to be overcome.

“I am thrilled to be highlighting the Warli tribe’s exquisite artwork on a platform as internationally recognized as New York Fashion Week. These designs have been a part of the tribe’s cultural heritage since 10th century A.D., which makes preservation of this ancient handicraft even more important. Currently, Warli handlooms are in decline — but, by creating an entire collection dedicated to their designs, we aim to direct attention and create awareness about the tribe’s indigenous craftsmanship” shared Designer Archana Kochhar

THE GLOBAL DISABILITY INCLUSION CAMPAIGN

The Global Disability Inclusion Campaign aims at giving people with disabilities the same opportunities as anyone else on the fashion playground.

The Ahimsa Collection showcase at the New York Fashion Week featured specially-abled women on the ramp, in the spirit of global disability inclusion.

The Warli Collection showcase at the New York Fashion Week featured renowned model Kiara M on the ramp with a prosthetic leg, setting an example for everyone that disability doesn’t need to hold you back

ACID BURNED VICTIM INCLUSION

The Banjara Collection showcased at the New York Fashion Week featured Reshma Qureshi, an acid attack survivor. She walked the international runway while raising awareness about this brutal act and setting an example for other victims.

TRANS WOMEN INCLUSION

Our showcase at the Bombay Times Fashion Week was in support of Trans Women’s Rights and Inclusion. The showcase was aimed at highlighting the uniqueness of the trans identity, while providing the historically marginalized community with access to the fashion playground. They walked down the ramp with pride, highlighting how fashion isn’t bound by one’s gender or sexuality.
